International podcasting super-star Dawn Miceli (dawnanddrew.com) and Paul Blann from internet fame (paulblann.com) have joined forces, creating the musical phenomenon “Smitten Bayou.” A mix of hipster-punk-folk-reggae-bluegrass, this is a band best enjoyed live. These Wisconsin locals will entertain you throughout cold winters and fly-infested summers, both through their music and unique stage banter.
Their latest CD release, “Le Brown Note” uniquely blends comedy with profound topics such as fidelity and fetishes. Paul’s acoustic guitar is the perfect balance for Dawn’s melodic singing. There aren’t many bands that utilize African drums, Irish whistles and washboards but Smitten Bayou is not your typical band. This is evident the moment they walk on stage often wearing homemade costumes reminiscent of a 1892 southern punk rockstar. Ms. Miceli’s blue hair is the first indicator that this band is not afraid to express themselves and their live shows have been compared to circus cabaret.
They have been touring the midwest and will soon set out on the international leg of the tour to promote the new album.
It isn’t coincidence that this group is named Smitten Bayou, you will truly be smitten by them.

I like how they involve the audience in the songs (not the masturbation part – that’s optional), making it more like everyone in a big group having fun rather than just a musical performance. I can’t wait until I see them again.
